We’ve seen many pop-up paper cup versions of bunnies on Pinterest but created our own here in the signature colors of Chinese (Lunar) New Year of red and gold!
How do you make this Chinese New Year Rabbit Craft?
You’ll need very simple materials to make this pop-up rabbit craft. A cup, straws and paper are the main materials and I bet you already have most of these on hand at home!

Chinese New Year Rabbit Craft (Lunar New Year Craft For Kids)
Materials
- Paper cup
- Straws
- White, red, gold/yellow paper
- Scissors
- Clear tape
- Black and red markers
Instructions
2. Create two holes on both sides of the paper cup and one on the bottom, the size of the straws.
3. Wrap clear tape around 3 straws around 1/3 of the way up.
4. Insert straws through the holes to create the pop up mechanism.
5. Cut a piece of white paper into a circle and into two white bunny ears. Draw a cute face on the white circle.
6. Cut two red inner ears and glue those on to the white ears.
7. Tape the face to the straws.
8. Create hands by cutting white circles with a red heart inside each hand.
9. Decorate your paper cup with yellow hearts.
