DIY Holiday Truck

Hi everyone. I’m so excited to be back again sharing a fun and simple holiday craft for Design Dazzle’s annual Christmas Wonderful series! My name is Jess, and you can find more of my DIY projects, recipes, and party inspiration on Everyday Party Magazine. This DIY Holiday Truck project is super easy, and should cost less than $10 to make.

Holiday Truck Craft

Red, snow covered trucks are synonymous with Christmas. Maybe one day I will own a real vintage truck. But, until then, I will pretend my golf cart is an old truck, and I’ll decorate my home with red holiday trucks and bottle brush trees.

Before you get started, gather your supplies. I found nearly everything I needed at the dollar store.

For this simple DIY holiday truck, you will need;

  • Two identical balsa wood trucks
  • One small wooden crate
  • Hot glue gun and glue
  • Craft paint and paint brushes
  • Craft knife
  • Optional – bottle brush tree, mini lights and batteries

My trucks had small wooden trees attached to the back already, so I removed those with a craft knife. Then, I removed the door and fenders from one truck.

Next, I painted the front of the truck that still had the fenders. I painted the body of the truck red, and then I painted the tires black with white wheel covers. I added a little grey and wiped off the excess to make the truck look older. Finally, I dabbed white paint around the top edges of the truck to look like fresh snow. I painted the second truck solid red on both sides.

While I waited for the paint to dry, I wrapped tiny led lights around a small bottle brush tree.

After the paint was dry, I lined up the small wooden crate and glued it to the back side of the truck with snow on it. Then, I lined up the second truck and glued it to the other side of the crate.

Finally, I put the bottle brush tree in the small crate. You could also fill the crate with cookies and treats and give it to friends and neighbors.
