DIY Valentines Wreath
I love Valentines Day! And I love creating Valentine's day decorations for my home. This year I did a few Valentines DIY projects like the glass etched Valentine vase, wood burned candle sticks, and this cute heart wreath. I put this DIY Valentines wreath above the mantel, but it would look adorable on the front door too! It is a simple wreath, but I like things simple.

I ordered some wood hearts online. I had considered cutting out the hearts myself since I had some ⅛" plywood laying around, but I really wanted the hearts to be EXACTLY the same. I needed a uniform look for this Valentine wreath diy project. You know when you have a vision in your head and you want it to come out just like you imagined it? Plus, the wood hearts were so inexpensive and would save me so much TIME. There were 24 but I ended up only using 16 since I wanted a smaller wreath to fit over the TV area. The heart shape of the cut outs was perfect for the design I was going for.
The first step was mixing up some acrylic craft paint by adding in more white paint and less of the burgundy for each cup. It took a bit to get the shades just right but was worth the time. I ended up with 8 different colors that would help create the ombre look I was going for. Using a large, flat craft brush, I painted the wood hearts.
Since there were 8 colors, I did 2 hearts per color.
After they had time to completely dry, I started gluing them together. I used the wire form as a guide. I glued the hearts together on top of the the wire form before actually gluing them to the form.
Once all of the hearts were glued together with a drop of hot glue, I flipped them over and glued them to the wire form. I am sure there are other ways to go about this, but this seemed like the easiest way to ensure the hearts were evenly spaced and stayed the right shape and size. You could also use a grapevine wreath form or a foam wreath form, but I like the minimal profile of the wire one and it was cheaper. You could also use a wire form that is in the shape of a heart.
The wire form made it so easy to hang it from a little nail in the board that hides my TV. I also could have added some ribbon to the form and hung it that way. Either way, I think this cute wreath is the perfect way to add some Valentine cheer to your home.
