DIY Wall Art | Disney Princess Room Decor

Disney Princess Magazine Collage Wall Art
Looking for a cute way to bring some extra personality into your space? This simple, inexpensive project is a great way to get some creative use out of old magazines and shoe boxes!
What you’ll need to make your magazine collage:
- magazine
- glue
- scissors
- tape
- pen and pencil
- shoe box
- black construction paper
- white blank paper
- ribbon (extra)
Step 1
First I used the scissors to cut out a panel of the shoe box. Make sure that the panel is smaller than the black piece of paper. After the panel had been cut, place it on top of the black piece of paper as close to the center as possible and fold the bottom edge of the paper to the surface of the cardboard. I used my tape to keep the paper securely attached to the cardboard. After folding the top in the same way, I flipped each corner of the sides down before folding them against the cardboard in order to make my side folds neater.
Step 2
For this next part, I found a picture of Princess Ariel online (it’s generally better to find a silhouette with minimal details), and I free-handed it on my white sheet of paper; however, it is a LOT faster to find a nice picture and just print it on the white paper. Cut out Princess Ariel and trace her on your black paper (black pen actually shows up quite well on black paper!). After tracing Princess Ariel on the black paper, I cut her up into smaller chunks; this sounds gruesome, but will make more sense later.
Step 3
This next part is my favorite! Here’s when you get to go through the magazines and find patterns that strike your fancy! When I chose my patterns, I matched their color to Princess Ariel’s colors (green for her tail, red for her hair, etc.)
Step 4
Next, I traced each chunk of the white paper on to one of my patterns and cut the shape out of the pattern. After I cut out all the shapes, I glued them to fit in the outline like puzzle.
To add a little extra pizzazz, I lined the whole piece with black, glittery ribbon I had lying around the house.
