The Elements Lab Jewelry Maker app from Taiwan-based 3D printing company Elements Lab promises “easy DIY jewelry making with real 3D printed jewelry.” The app is slated to release by the end of February.

To create 3D jewelry through the app, the user must choose the type of jewelry they want and specify the size. The user then selects from an array of available options to customize the charm, metal and/or gemstone.

Users can also send original designs to Elements Lab for more customized jewelry design. (The ordering process is explained in the recently-released Elements Lab trailer.)

Once a user uploads their design, they receive a price quote. The design and pricing need to be approved before the jewelry goes into production.

According to the company’s website, all gemstones used with their silver products are man-made stones; Gemstones used with real gold products, such as their 10K yellow, white gold and rose gold jewelry, are natural stones. All pearls are genuine with sizes ranging from three to 6.5 millimeters in diameter.

“Jewelry design is never easy to anyone,” an Elements Lab spokeperson told 3DPrint. “But 3D printing technology somehow bridges the gap closer to everyone.”

The spokesperson also said that the app is easy to use and appropriate for all ages — even for those with no experience using computer-aided design tools.

The app will be available through Google Play for Android devices at the end of the month. According to the company, the app will soon be available for iOS and Windows devices as well.
