How To Make A Tassel Wreath
Learn how to make a cute and festive tassel wreath from yarn and a wooden embroidery hoop.
I’m excited to share this craft tutorial with you today. It’s one of those crafts that’s simple and fun to make and completely customizable to any holiday or color scheme. I love that!
I chose to make a St. Patrick’s Day themed wreath with green and white and a pop of rainbow. I love how it turned out, but now I keep imagining it in different colorways for other seasons and holidays.
To make a tassel wreath, you’ll need:
Materials Needed
- Yarn (any colors)
- 7 or 8 Inch Wooden Embroidery Hoop
- Cardboard or Chipboard 7-8 Inches Wide
- Scissors
- Ribbon for Hanging (optional, but cute)
Instructions
Step 1: Wrap yarn around a piece of cardboard or chipboard that measures around 7-8 inches. I wrapped each of my tassels 25 times.
Step 2: Carefully slide the yarn off the chipboard, then tie a piece of yarn tightly around the center. Cut through the yarn loops on each end.
Step 3: Place the yarn bundle under the hoop, then wrap it around to the front so that the cut ends all line up.
Step 4: Tightly tie a piece of string around the yarn to form a tassel that is attached to the hoop.
Step 5: Repeat the process until the entire hoop is covered in tassels. Trim any yarn ends that are sticking out.
Step 6: Add a ribbon for hanging, if desired. I just scooted the tassels apart enough to be able to tie the ribbon on at the top.
And that’s it! Six easy steps to make this cute, inexpensive wreath. Isn’t that just fun?
