Design as an artistic discipline is to advance and simplify things.

Everything has the rule or underlying patterns, either language, art, life itself, or an amazing natural world. The purpose of design is to think about how to address a problem creatively; to organize and facilitate ideas; to map from here to there and the stops and steps in between.

Design-driven innovation and activities: Being design oriented is that you prioritize making things likable vs. just making them functioning. The human-centered design begins with deep empathy and an in-depth understanding of the needs and motivations of people from different perspectives. High mature design activities and design-driven innovation is not spontaneous or serendipitous, but a managed process, and cross-disciplinary practice.

Design starts with a need and tests the solutions with experimentation:
Design is a psychological dimension related to both the visible and the invisible and often it is the invisible that is ignored by many. Design thinking is not predicated on following a single method: The art, design, and humanities are interconnected, teach people how to recognize patterns, perceive invisible behind the scenes, and solve problems in an increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world.

Following “empathy” as a design principle:
Besides design processes, approaches and methodologies, it’s crucial to deal with those invisible factors such as feelings, emotions, and psychology. Dig beneath articulated solutions to recognize underlying needs and wants. The good way to achieve empathy is by always making it a practice to reach out to the customers; it’s important to ask insightful, thoughtful and compelling questions of the people your design will serve as you seek to understand their wants, desires, and needs.

Imagine how different the world would be with design as the delightful theme for achieving people-centricity. Design as an artistic discipline is to advance and simplify things. Designers as artists keep learning and fine-tuning their craft, and transcending the art to the next level of consciousness.
