My Big List of Goals I’m Going to Accomplish in 2022 Week 14 of 52
Prep table by deVOL Kitchens
Here’s my big list of things I want to accomplish in 2022:
Remodel The Kitchen
While the HH is working on sanding the floors in the kitchen, I’ve been online searching for prep table ideas and floating shelves.
Sell Enough Rugs to Buy an AGA Stove {$11,442.90 of $22,000 earned so far}
The AGA has been ordered {we put 1/2 down when we placed the order} and it should be here later this summer. So in a nutshell… I better get hooking so I can come up with the rest of the funds to pay for the thing.
Fill the Canning Cupboard
Fresh asparagus is on sale this week! Yee-Haw. I think I might pickle some.
Jams I’ve made to fill my canning cupboard so far: Ginger Pear Jam and Spiced Christmas Jam.
Earn Enough Money Selling {?????} To Pay For Our 2022 Grocery Tab By The End Of The Year.
I totally forgot to list my driftwood on Etsy last week and now with the house a total mess, I think I’ll just have to wait until things calm down again because I don’t even know where it is now.
Eat More Fruits and Vegetables.
Ketchup totally counts, right?
Keep The Crafts… In The Craft Room.
Well, the crafts may be out of the dining room, but I barely have enough room to walk in there now because everything that was in the kitchen/dining area is now strewn between the family room and my crafting area.
But those floors…. Holy cannolis people, they’re looking good.
Tap Our 2 Maple Trees and Make Maple Syrup
The well has run dry. Now we just have to wait for The Girl to come for a visit so we can boil down the sap.
Make a Quilt Top
I made absoultly zero progress on my quilt top this past week.
Be More Intentional With My Time
There is a person on Etsy selling pinecone wreaths for $200.
Note to self: Start picking up the pinecones in our backyard.
1 Craft / Blog Free Day So far I’m 9 for 13 this year.
I have to keep crafting in order to stay sane right now. If I didn’t, I think I would lose my mind.
Lucy and I have been spending most of our days in the craft room lately and although I’m getting a lot done, I’m glad the temps will be warmer next week so we can play outside instead.
Keep My Husband Busy
Slowly but surely, the HH is getting there. He ordered the sealer for the floor {it should arrive tomorrow} and thinks he’ll be ready to lay it down early next week.
Once that dries, we’ll move all our stuff over to the dining room/kitchen side of the house and then he’ll start the process all over again on the other side of the house. Fun times!
The HH’s Honey Do List {so far} for 2022
- Take over cooking {I’ll still do the baking and canning}
- Cut down the cluster of trees in the backyard
- Build a new set of stairs down to the water.
- Fill the field {with soil}
- Remodel 1 bathroom
Replace fireplace tile- Build window boxes for the front of the house
- Build an arbor for the wisteria
- Order 4 cords of firewood by the end of May and stack them in an artful way {like they did in the book Norwegian Wood}.
- Sand the floors in the entire house {new addition}
- Install new garage door openers {new addition}
- Build a wood shed {new addition}
My current project is trying to clean all the PINE FLOOR DUST out of my vacuum.
Apparently the HH thought it would be a good idea to use our household vacuum to suck up all the tiny bits of dust he couldn’t get with his old shop vac.
And then he ended up getting a new one after he ruined mine.
My House Projects For This Year {so far}
- Finish painting the outside of the house
- Finish painting the inside of the house
- Make something to hang above our new console table
- Make it look like people actually live here HA HA HA
- New window treatment for the kitchen window
Try 24 New Recipes {8 down, 16 to go}
I didn’t make any new recipes this past week. Gee. I wonder why.
So far this year I have shared the following recipes:
- Hash Brown Waffles with Bacon and Cheese
- Bacon Cheddar Jalapeno Biscuits
- Apple Cinnamon Granola
- Mrs. C’s Slow Cooker Pot Roast
- Ginger Pear Jam
- Lentils with Carrots and Thyme
- Dutch Oven Cinnamon Raisin Bread
- Dutch Oven Olive and Rosemary Bread
Listen to 12 Audiobooks
I’m still on the wait list for Taste by Stanley Tucci and The Boys by Ron and Clint Howard.
Audiobooks I’ve listened to this year:
- Dolly Parton, Songteller by Dolly Parton 10/10
- Salt to the Sea by Ruth Sepetys 10/10.
- No Time Like the Future: An Optimist Considers Mortality by Michael J. Fox 10/10
- Night Road by Kristen Hannah on Audiobook. 9/10.
- Mill Town by Kerri Arsenault. Interesting. 8/10.
- The Kitchen Front by Jennifer Ryan 10/10.
Get a Fishing License and Catch a Fish
The HH is in charge of procuring all the fishing gear. So you know, there’s lot’s of research to be done first.
I missed the pussy willow harvest for the second year in a row. I went out yesterday to clip some branches and they were about a day or two past their prime.
Also, there is still no sign of the 100+ daffodils I planted in front of the barn. I find it hard to believe that they were all gobbled up by critters and am now beginning to think that maybe I planted them too deep.

52 Walks {We’ve gone on 5 of 52 so far}
When I wrote down this goal, the idea was that we’d be going on one special walk a week. But it was so cold this winter, and now with refinishing the floors being the top priority, getting out and going for a nice walk has sort of been put on the back burner for right now.
Which is sort of a bummer because Lucy loves to go exploring.
Visit 12 Towns in Maine That I Haven’t Been to Before
So far we have visited the town of Hope, Maine and checked out the General Store there.
How about YOU? How did you do with working towards your goals for 2022?
