Pancake Designs and a Fish Party for World Ocean Day

When my daughter said that we should have a ‘Fish Day’ this weekend, we pushed aside the confusion and said, “yeah, why not?”. I mean it’s not like we’ve got anywhere to be.

Fortunately, it also works as a run-up to World Ocean Day on June 8th, a day to remind ourselves at the changing environment and what we need to be doing to protect our planet, the oceans and the huge variety of creatures that live in them.

To make it fun, we started the day with some ocean-themed pancakes. I used a cake decorating pour-bottle to do the outline of the pancake shapes and when that’s fully brown, quickly fill in the empty spots, let bubble and flip.

Then we added a few decorations and used a sharpie and some craft paper scraps to theme these fruit cups.

And to finish it off, a few decorations, a fishing game, and some fish colouring-in. Oh, and we gave Peaches the cat some tuna so he can join the celebrations.
