Paracord DIY Headphones

Have you ever had the problem of getting your headphones tangled up all the time. I almost always experience that too. So what I did was made a DIY headphone cover with some embroidery floss and it was amazing. I liked it a lot but my husband and son, not so much. They were all about saying that it’s just too girly even when I gave them options to make it dark colored, even black. So when I came across this video tutorial on paracord DIY headphones, I just had to share it with all of you. If you want a little challenge that will give you cool results, try this!

What you’ll need to make your paracord DIY headphones:

  • paracord
  • headphones
  • heat-shrink tubing
  • soldering iron
  • scissors
  • wire cutters
  • lighter
  • glue
  • long nose pliers

 

Step 1

Measure the paracord against your headphones and cut it to length. Do this for each piece of the earplug and get another paracord from the middle to the jack.

Prepare the paracord by removing the inside string.

Cut the wires up. You’ll be removing the middle part of the headphone.

Step 4

Take your wire cutters and strip the cover off the wires then separate them. You’ll be needing this to connect everything later.

Step 5

Now take your paracord and insert the wire with the jack in it.

Prepare the heat-shrink tubings and put one of them to cover the jack. Then using your lighter, heat the tubing and mold it using your fingers against the jack. Be careful, it’s hot.

Now that you’re done with the wire with the jack, let’s move on to the ones with the earplugs. Insert the wire to the paracord and glue the end in place.

Fit the tubing and heat it to mold along the earplug. Repeat steps 7 and 8 for the other earplug wire.

Step 9

Time to connect the wires.

Now that the wires are connected, insert the tubings and heat it up to secure the wires.

Step 11

Connect the paracords in the middle and keep them in place with glue.

Insert two tubings on the wires with the earplugs.

Step 13

Using your long nose pliers, insert a tubing to the end and widen it by opening the pliers in one angle then another. It should look like the picture above when you’re done.

Fit it in the paracord covered wire with the wider end facing the two wires. Heat it up to mold it, and you’re done! Test out your new cool DIY headphones!
