If you’re looking for a St. Patrick’s Day craft, I’ve got a super fun idea for you. Let’s make popsicle stick leprechauns! At Christmas time, I made popsicle stick nutcrackers and they were just so darn cute that I thought I’d try making leprechauns too. And I love how they turned out. These little men have so much personality and were so fun to make. Let me show you how you can make your own popsicle stick leprechauns.

Instructions

Step 1: Glue the craft sticks together in the order shown in this photo:

You can play around a little bit with proportion here. Each of the leprechauns I made are slightly different. One has really long legs and one has really short ones. It’s kind of fun to give each leprechaun his own personality.

Step 2: The stick used for the hat brim looks a little too big in my opinion, so I cut it down a bit with a sharp pair of scissors.

Step 3: Paint the legs and center stick of the chest one shade of green. Paint the arms and jacket area the other shade of green, leaving the hands wood color. Paint the hat green. Add orange hair and and orange beard (and bushy eyebrows… optional, but darling). Paint the bottom of the long popsicle sticks black so they look like boots.

Step 4: Once the paint is dry, use Sharpie markers, paint pens and colored pencils to add a face and all of the fun clothing details like buttons and buckles and shoelaces, etc.

And that’s all it takes to make your own cute little leprechauns out of wooden craft sticks. Such a perfect craft for St. Patrick’s Day, don’t you think?
