Top Halloween Movies to Watch this October

What We Do in the Shadows: This list is in no particular order, with this one exception. What We Do in the Shadows is my absolute favorite movie to watch in October, and therefore, my number one. This fake documentary follows modern-day vampires living in New Zealand and is… a complete masterpiece.

Casper: A “ghost therapist” and his daughter move into a haunted house, with the hopes of assisting the spirits inside.

Beetlejuice: After dying in a car accident, a young couple is stuck haunting their old home. But, after failed attempts to scare away the newest family, they turn to an unlikely source for assistance.

Scream: A group of young friends becomes the target of a masked killer.

Hocus Pocus: Three 17th century witches are reborn in modern-day Salem. It’s up to three young kids to save the neighborhood from their wrath.

Addams Family: This movie follows a wealthy family with macabre interest. If you’re a lover of the Addams family, like me, you’ll want to be sure to add The Addams Family, The Addams Family Values, and the animated The Addams Family films to your bucket list.

Halloweentown: After discovering she is a witch, Marney and her young siblings follow their grandmother to Halloweentown to discover their magical powers.

The Haunted Mansion: Married real-estate agents take their children to visit a potential client, the owner of a haunted mansion.

Get out: Rose takes her boyfriend, Chris, home to meet the parents. Soon, the family’s strange behavior turns into something much more sinister.

Practical Magic: Two sisters with magical abilities use their powers in the search for love.

Ghostbusters: A group of ghost exterminators attempts to save New York City from an invitation of spirits.

Halloween: A murderer returns to the town of Haddonfield on October 31st in search of his next victim.

The Nightmare Before Christmas: In the search of something new, Halloween Town resident Jack Skellington discovers Christmas Town and devises a new plan to celebrate this year.

Goosebumps: A group of friends must work together to save the town from monsters that have been released from R.L. Stine’s manuscripts.

Moms Got a Date with a Vampire: Three kids must save their mom after accidentally setting her up with a vampire.

Scooby-Doo The Movie: Mystery Inc. is invited to Spooky Island to investigate a series of strange events.

Under Wraps: A group of friends assists a Mummy on Halloween.

Bewitched: A young witch is cast to play the role of Samantha, a housewife witch, in an upcoming film.

Us: A family must fight for survival against mast assailants who, upon unmasking, look exactly like them.

The Scream Team: Two siblings team up with some local spirits to save their grandfather… such a great Disney Channel Original Movie!

Hotel Transylvania: A human stumbles upon Dracula’s hidden hotel, where only monsters are allowed to visit.

Corpse Bride: A young man is taken to the underworld to marry a corpse bride.

Phantom of the Megaplex: A group of kids rush to solve the mystery behind a series of strange occurrences within their megaplex.

Rocky Horror Picture Show: This part-horror movie, part-musical creates the mood for a fun evening filled with entertainment… Let’s do the time warp again!

The Craft: Four friends with unusual gifts take their powers to the next level.

Pet Sematary: A family moves into a new home, adjacent to the Pet Sematary.

Don’t Look Under the Bed: The boogyman is stalking a young girl, using pranks to get her attention.

The House with the Clock in its Walls: Lewis is sent to live with his magician uncle. But, when he accidentally awakens the dead, the town begins to quickly change.
