I am so excited to share these heart art projects with you! If you’ve been around Fun-A-Day for a while, you’ll know that there’s nothing I love more than a good process art project. If they’re heart and Valentine’s Day themed, a season already overflowing with wonderful themes like love, friendship, and kindness . . . then, even better!

Materials for Your Heart Art

Plus, they use all of my favorite supplies: coffee filters, shaving cream, glitter, a salad spinner, and more. You might be already set on those materials! But if you’re in need, grab your supplies from this list below:

Of course, you can also adjust many of these heart art projects based on the supplies you already have on-hand. While I love picking up new art materials, I’m also a big believer in using what you have. So just do what works best for you and your students!

Some of Our Favorite Heart Art Ideas

Below are some of our most favorite heart-themed art projects. They’re either ideas we came up with in the classroom ourselves, or they’re well-loved ideas from others that I tried with my students. This category is 100% preschooler-approved, if you will!

Heart Print Valentine from Fun-A-Day – This process art activity is super easy with beautiful results. I love that the kids can do it by themselves, and they think the process is magical!

Handprint Heart Tree from Fun-A-Day – I love love love handprint art. Here, they use both their handprints and their fingerprints to make a beautiful heart tree.

Heart Sensory Collage from Crayon Box Chronicles – A red invitation to play becomes a beautiful piece of art with tons of child-led creation and exploration along the way.

Heart Suncatchers from Where Imagination Grows – Glue, beads, and wax paper are all you need to make beautiful and unique suncatchers. Don’t forget LOTS of glue!

Invitation to Create Homemade Valentines from Buggy and Buddy – Another beautiful invitation to play that equips kids with all they need to make homemade valentines. You just set it up and let them create!

Straw Art for Valentine’s Day from Fun-A-Day – Use straws bent into heart shapes to create a wide variety of valentine art with your students.

Valentine’s Day Oil Pastel Hearts from Fun-A-Day – Grab some tissue paper, black construction paper, oil pastels, and a heart die-cut. Then let the kids get creative!

Dyed Wooden Hearts from Fun-A-Day – While we originally made and used these as manipulatives, they would be great as part of a three-dimensional heart art project!

Glitter Rock Valentines from The Artful Parent – These are so easy and fun! Glitter rocks are a fun take on rock painting and would make great gifts around Valentine’s Day.

Cookie Cutter Heart Art Painting from Messy Little Monster – Read the sweet story The Day it Rained Hearts and then use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to make some fun artwork. Perfect for toddlers!

Shaving Cream Marbled Hearts from Natural Beach Living – Shaving cream is another art supply that I just love. Check out the process for making marbled hearts with just a few simple ingredients.

Frozen Valentine Hearts from Teaching 2 and 3 Year Olds – This is such a unique heart art idea! I love how she incorporates ice painting into the project.
