Capsule Wardrobe Inspiration (with photos)

Below I’m going to share some Capsule Wardrobe Inspiration (with photos)

If you are ready for a wardrobe downsize, create a capsule wardrobe. Sometimes the process of deciding what to donate or sell is so overwhelming that everything just lives in your closet forever. Instead of deciding what to get rid of, creating a capsule wardrobe will allow you to focus on what to keep.

When creating your capsule wardrobe, here’s a low stress approach:

1. Decide what to keep.

  • Decide on a 1-3 month timeline for your capsule wardrobe. Account for weather and special events plus your day to day needs.
  • Choose your favorite 3-7 outfits. You probably wear these 3-7 looks most of the time.
  • Add a jacket or 2 if needed.
  • Add the shoes (3-4 pairs).
  • Pick a handbag if you carry one.
  • Decide on a favorite piece of jewelry if you have one.
  • Add a scarf if you use one.

2. Now that you’ve focused on what to keep, box up the rest. Don’t make any decisions about what to sell or donate or wear again. Just get it all out of sight.

3. Enjoy wearing your favorite things for your agreed upon timeline.

4. After your 1-3 months, revisit the out of sight stuff and see if the decisions feel easier about what to keep and what to let go of.

5. Create a new capsule wardrobe and repeat the steps above as needed.
