After a year’s absence, the East Greenwich Chamber of Commerce today announced that it’s whimsical Holiday Parade is back and is scheduled for Saturday December 4. Last year, due to COVID 19 restrictions, we had a wonderful Holiday Car Parade. This year, the Holiday Parade that we had back in 2018 and 2019, will be returning.
_
For many years, the Town of East Greenwich and the East Greenwich Chamber’s Main Street Merchants Committee have held a Holiday Tree Lighting at East Greenwich Town Hall. This year, once again, the traditional tree lighting will follow a Holiday Parade down Main Street.
_
According to Stephen Lombardi, Executive Director of the East Greenwich Chamber, “We are again looking forward to involving more people, fun, and holiday festivities all along Main Street”.
The holiday parade will have a festive Dr. Seuss-like feel theme. Throw your crazy hats and sweaters on, dress in Holiday outfits, light yourselves up with glow sticks or strung lights, or even bring your dogs in costume! All organizations and independents are welcome to join the fun!!
All participants will congregate at Eldredge Field at 4:30pm. At 5pm, the parade will head down Friendship Street and turn left onto Main Street. We anticipate arriving at Town Hall by 5:30pm. There, we will have Christmas carols, performances by local dance companies and much more. After Christmas carols, Santa will participate in the Annual Tree Lighting followed by pictures inside EG Town Hall. Tree lighting at 6:00 PM
The Holiday Parade is a fun way to kick-off the holidays and everybody is welcome to participate!

Black Violin is led by classically trained string players Wil B. (viola) and Kev Marcus (violin). Joining them onstage are DJ SPS and drummer Nat Stokes. The band’s Give Thanks Tour employs playful storytelling, whimsical string melodies, and hard-hitting beats to highlight the unifying pillars of the holiday season: Giving back to others and being wholeheartedly thankful. Fans can expect to dance along to hits from the band’s Grammy Nominated Take the Stairs album as well as holiday favorites from their Give Thanks album.
For 17 years, Black Violin has been merging string arrangements with modern beats and vocals and building bridges in communities along the way. Members Kev Marcus and Wil Baptiste first met in orchestra class at Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale, becoming classically trained on the violin and viola through their high school and college careers. Post-college, they reconvened to produce beats for South Florida rappers, and began building an audience in local clubs. They later went on to win Showtime at the Apollo in 2005, and eventually sold out headline performances at venues across the country, including a sold out two-night headline run at The Kennedy Center in 2018. NPR took note and declared “their music will keep classical music alive for the next generation.” Black Violin’s latest release, Take the Stairs, earned a Grammy Award nomination for “Best Contemporary Instrumental Album”.
